About SantaSorted

SantaSorted is an independent, advertising- and affiliate-supported website. Gift exchanges are meant to be fun, but organising one usually means a spreadsheet, a hat and an argument about the budget. We built simple tools and straight-talking guides that take that work off the organiser.

What we publish

A Secret Santa generator with exclusions, a white elephant (Yankee swap) turn-order tool, a holiday gift budget planner, a group gift cost splitter, and guides for the US, UK, Canada and Australia (where it is often called Kris Kringle).

How we research

Where we quote statistics we link the original survey or press release. Game rules are described as common house rules, because there is no single official rulebook. We do not invent offers, prices or urgency, and we never recommend a product we have not described honestly. Every figure that comes from a third party is linked at the bottom of the page where it is used, and every page shows when it was last reviewed. If a carrier, retailer or organisation changes its published information, the official source wins over anything on this site.

How the tools work

Everything runs in your browser. Names and amounts you type are not sent to our servers. The Secret Santa private links keep the result inside the part of the web address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers; it is encoded for convenience, not encrypted.

How we make money

SantaSorted shows advertising (Google AdSense) and may include affiliate links to retailers and other services. This never changes what we write about a product or a date, and we do not accept payment for placement in our guides. Details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections

If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page. We correct factual mistakes quickly and update the “last updated” date when we do.
